Letter from the Inventors
.
Dear
Fellow Bird Enthusiast,
Are you the owner of a single bird or the manager of a large bird
shop? Regardless of the number of birds you care for, the Seed-Saver
will save you big money starting the day you buy it.
The Problem.
We love birds. We love raising birds. We love meeting other bird enthusiasts.
However, we don't like the way our precious little birdos consume
vast quantities of expensive bird seed. |

You know what I mean. When they feed, you would think they were on a treasure
hunt for the perfect piece of seed. Meanwhile scattering all the rejects
every which way. About 1/4 of it winds up in their little stomachs. The
rest lies discarded and is usually thrown away.
What a waste.
We put up with this for many years; dutifully forking over big bucks to
the feed store feeling there was no other alternative. We even tried those
special feeding attachments which try to capture some of the lost seed.
Though helpful, they would also capture the discarded chaff and hulls, too.
We figured if we could gather up the discarded seeds, hulls and all, and
separate the hulls from the good seed, we could recycle the perfectly good
seed our birds were throwing away.
We were amazed to discover that our birds were throwing away up to 75% of
the seed and actually eating only 1/4 of it.
If we could recover that lost seed, it would be like getting 3 bags of seed
free for every bag of seed we were buying.
We had an Idea.
Just like you, we blew over the seed dishes and found the result both dizzying
and unsatisfactory. We stirred seeds in a bowl while blowing over them with
a hair dryer. Hulls flew everywhere - in our eyes, on our clothes, all over
the driveway. There had to be a better way.
For thousands of years, mankind has been separating "the wheat from
the chaff". Pretty simple really. Just throw the seed up in the air
10 or 20 times on a windy day and try to catch it on the way down before
it hits the ground.
Aside from only working on windy days, it takes some real skill (and a large
flying saucer-like device) to catch the seed - not to mention all the hulls
that you have to clean up from the ground when you're done.
Still, the idea of using air in some way to separate the seeds from the
hulls seemed to be the natural way to go.
Eureka !!!
With this in mind, we began designing a device that could be attached to
any 1-1/4" home vacuum cleaner hose (a Eureka, perhaps) or to a small,
inexpensive vacuum cleaner such as the $27 "Stinger" wet/dry vac
from Home Depot (specify Item #100021998).
After months of experimenting and spending thousands of dollars to build
and test several different prototypes, one afternoon... IT WORKED, IT WORKED,
IT WORKED !!!
With our home vacuum connected to its top, the hulls and chaff were sucked
away while the clean, whole seed poured steadily into the bucket.
I'm not sure, but I think we went dancing down the street scaring a few
dogs and cats in the process.
We could pour the seed into this device (which would normally have been
thrown away) and good, reusable bird seed would rain down out of the device
ready to be fed to our birds again.
It was like getting free bird seed.
We were ecstatic!
I know it sounds like boasting, but we can honestly say that every time
we use the Seed-Saver, we are always astonished at its outstanding performance.
Then, as a finishing touch, we added a valve to adjust it's performance
for varying seed sizes and vacuum strength.
The Result.
We invited friends over to demonstrate how this new device was saving
the bird seed I would have thrown away and telling them all about the
money it was going to save us.
I am sure we bored them to tears as we showed them over and over and over
again how it worked. You know, clean up the seed, then mix the captured
hulls and chaff back into the seed and clean it again...
But, now when we dump the vacuum bag into the trash can, the only sound
we hear is the "fuff" of hulls and chaff hitting the bottom
--
no seed is being wasted.
The "Seed-Saver" is Born.
Wouldn't you know it. All this showing off resulted in many of our bird
loving friends asking us to build "one of those seed saving devices"
for them, too.
It was only natural to assume that many more people would want a Seed-Saver
for themselves.
With the encouragement of family and a few special friends, we took our
design to a fabricator and had 100 Seed Saver devices made using strong,
light-weight, translucent plastic.
It was light (only 7 lbs.) and small (14" x 22" x 2") and
yet it was efficient and powerful.
Its Show Time...
We boxed them up, rented a trailer and hauled about half of them to a
local swap meet. We nearly sold out before the day was over!
We were so excited and busy telling our visitors about the Seed-Saver,
that we didn't write down their names and email addresses so we could
follow up with them.
A few weeks later, we attended another swap meet with what remained of
our original 100 Seed-Savers. This time, we were careful to get our customer's
contact information so we could ask them to tell you about their experiences
with Seed-Saver on this web site.
You
are losing money every day,
you don't own a Seed-Saver.
Testimonials:
Worked perfectly. Great Product."
We have twenty finches and several times each year a lot more! We
were concerned that Seed-Saver would not work with tiny finch seed
but we tried your unit after you assured us that it would work perfectly.
It did! When I look closely at the recycled seed I cannot find one
hull and when I look in the vacuum bag there is not one whole seed
to be found. Great product! Steven & Jacqueline

| "Very Impressed By The Results"
I met you at the Pomona Bird Mart and bought your Seed-Saver.
I've got to tell you I went home and set it up and I was very impressed
by the results.
As I mentioned to you I am a large colorbred canary breeder here
in Southern California so I use hundreds of pounds of bird seed
every year and when you dont have the proper equipment, a lot of
seeds end up in the trash.
I was using a setup that I invented myself but it is not as reliable
as your Seed-Saver. I recomend this product to all those breeders
that are sick and tired of blowing seed and spending lots of time
that could be used in giving more time to your birds vs the seeds.

"At Last! A product that really works."
I have cockatiels that go through several buckets of seed each month
-- wasting most of it.
For me, Seed-Saver is a godsend. I am buying far less seed each month
because now I am recycling my feed with Seed-Saver.
Try it! You'll save money too. Moire G., Long Beach,

| "I Could Not Believe My Eyes"
I just wanted to let you know how impressed I am with
Seed-Saver! I tried it for the first time and could not believe
my eyes. I couldn't wait for somebody to come home so I could show
them how well it works!
I could not believe how much seed I actually throw away week after
week. I usually go through over 50 pounds of seed a month and I
look forward to seeing how long that 50 pounds will last me! Thanks
for such a great quality product!
I will tell everyone I know about Seed-Saver! See you at the next
bird show!

| "The Seed-Saver is Fabulous"
Got my Seed-Saver and it is fabulous. Could not believe
the amount of good seeds I used to just toss out but now with Seed-Saver,
it's like getting money back as I'm using seeds I used to pitch
out.
Definitely the Seed-Saver will pay for itself in no time. It's
everything you said it was and more as the savings are in my pocket.
Thanks so much. The amount of seeds I've thrown away over the years
- is just a shame. My birds and I love your product!

| "Thank You for a Wonderful Invention"
I tend to be the type of person that if something sounds
too good to be true it probably is and I will just pass it by, which
is how I felt when I first came across the Seed-Saver.
I've spent more than 5 years pouring my birdseed into a bucket and
a few times a month sitting in front a large box fan for up to 30
minutes sifting up to 20 pounds of it back and forth into buckets
in an attempt to recycle as much seed without the chafe as possible.
I finally broke down several months after finding it on the internet
initially and spent what I thought was a large sum of money on your
invention. Let me just say that it is without a doubt the best investment
in ANY bird accessories I have ever made. I can now pour that same
amount of seed into your Seed-Saver in less than 5 minutes and have
it remove what must be 99% of the chafe...and I would have to say
the 1% it doesn't remove would be due to me pouring it in too fast.
I highly recommend this accessory to bird owners whether they be
a pet store or independent owner of birds. I purchase hundreds of
pounds of birdseed every few months and I have to say it's more
than doubled the life span of my birdseed. Thank you for a wonderful
invention.
In addition I wanted to ask if you could recommend anyone who has
built something to hold your invention that I could build myself?
